I am the founder, fitness & weight-loss coach, creator, marketer, blogger, web designer, and chef of redtangerine! This all started back in 2009 when the job market took a huge hit, resulting in being laid off. I spent months trying to find a job. I was at a loss as to how I was going to generate an income. It was a friend of mine who was a career coach, that suggested I turn my passion for fitness and wellness into a business.
I applied my professional work experience to building redtangerine. I had access to a gym, I had the knowledge and experience, I just needed clients. Craigslist was one of the resources I used to find people who were looking for a fitness trainer to lose weight.. And so it began, I found my first client and redtangerine became the platform for coaching individuals who wanted to lose weight. It was incredibly rewarding to help people lose weight and feel better about themselves. I loved training them, building their workout plans and creating an eating plan that was easy for them to follow. I trained with my clients. That in itself was very motivating for them. They were determined to reach my level of fitness, which allowed me to push them harder. They never gave up. I was rewarded every time I saw their smiling faces at their weekly weigh in. I created redtangerine because I loved helping people feel better, not for the money. The job market picked back up and like everyone else, I entered back into the workforce.
Much has transpired and changed since 2009, to include why redtangerine is still in existence.
It was in 2013 that a life changing event happened, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had a bi-lateral mastectomy followed by 6 months of reconstruction. In 2014 I had a minor stroke. In the summer of 2015 I had brain surgery to clip two brain aneurysm's that had been discovered. In the fall of 2016, I had two more minor strokes.
My social media fans, the life threatening health issues, friends, family and people I didn't even know, have kept redtangerine alive. It has evolved into something much more meaningful than I had ever intended. This is the silver lining of all that I have endured, conquered, learned from, experienced and researched!
My hope is that I will continue to inspire all of you and even though I may not know you personally, I want to make a positive impact on your life in some way.
